It appears Former Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper is more involved in the Russigate fiasco than first thought. New information has come to light showing that Clapper not only participated in the leaking of the Steele dossier but also lied about it under oath.
With the disgraced former F.B.I. Director James Comey doing the interview circuit, the American public has been given more insight into how the web of the Russiagate story was weaved. Indeed, it appears that the conspiracy to attack President Trump was the result of a collaboration between anti-Trump individuals in the intelligence community, the FB.I., and the media.
Clapper Lies About Leaking Information To CNN
A recently declassified congressional report on Russia’s interference in the 2016 election shows that Clapper leaked information pertaining to the mostly unverified dossier to CNN. The report also indicates that the former DNI lied to Congress about the leak.
The 235-page document released by Congress states that “Clapper flatly denied ‘discussing’ the dossier” with the press. Later, the former DNI reversed his original statement, admitting that he did talk about the dossier with CNN journalist Jake Tapper. He also indicated that he may have discussed the dossier with other journalists as well. This isn’t the first time the former DNI has lied to Congress. He also falsely claimed that the government was not spying on its citizens.
Clapper Gave CNN Their News Hook
The reason why Clapper’s initial deception is significant is that James Comey indicated in one of his memos that he needed to brief President Trump on the details of the dossier because “CNN had them and were looking for a news hook.”
After speaking with CNN, Clapper told Comey to brief the president on the details of the dossier. This briefing provided the news network with the hook they needed to report on the Steele document. Interestingly enough, CNN later hired Clapper as a national security analyst. Each of these facts points to a deliberate effort to smear President Trump. What a coincidence, right?
The Deep State Isn’t A Myth
Many on the left have characterized the Deep State as a wild right-wing conspiracy theory. They pretend that the idea that government employees are working to sabotage the Trump administration is nothing more than a paranoid theory peddled by the likes of Alex Jones. However, when information such as this surfaces, it becomes harder to deny that there are individuals who are working to bring down the government.
Let’s face it. Donald Trump was never supposed to be the president. He’s not part of the Washington establishment. He is not part of their inner circle — and doesn’t want to be. It’s no surprise that the left and anti-Trump Republicans want to get rid of him — and it seems they are willing to use any weapons at their disposal.
Trump’s enemies are resorting to underhanded means to discredit him and his supporters. These individuals are working hand-in-hand with their allies in the establishment media to sway the American public against the president. So far, their attempts have largely failed — however, it is clear that they are not going to give up anytime soon.
