When it comes to political comedy, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is the gift that keeps on giving. Each week, Liberty Nation uncovers the blunders that keep us wondering: How did she ever get elected?
Surprisingly, this past week was relatively light in the world of AOC gaffes. Yet somehow, she still managed to make headlines. Nobody can say she has no special talents, right? This week, the young lawmaker made a new and fascinating discovery, benefitted from Twitter’s protection, and displayed an amazing inability to understand sarcasm. Let’s begin, shall we?
Twitter: No Mocking AOC
Earlier this week, social media companies Twitter and Facebook carried out another purge of conservative voices on their platforms, banning a host of prominent right-leaning figures. They targeted pro-Trump individuals like James Woods, Alex Jones, Paul Joseph Watson, and several others. Twitter, in particular, decided to go after a popular parody account that posts tweets mocking Rep. Ocasio-Cortez.
The account, known as @AOCPress, was created by Mike Morrison, whose personal account was also permanently banned. The parody account had gained more than 85,000 followers over its short tenure. But apparently, Twitter didn’t appreciate Morrison’s sense of humor.
While the account was clearly labeled as a parody — which is part of Twitter’s terms and conditions — the social media company explained that its tweets were too similar to comments that AOC actually made. But this is not surprising to those familiar with this type of humor; in this current age, it is exceedingly hard to satirize the far left because the ideas they spout with a straight face are already at a level of insanity that is nearly impossible to take seriously.
Fortunately, it appears that the account might be having its own “Spartacus moment.” Five other AOC parody accounts were recently created to carry on the legacy. You see, Senator Booker? This is what a real Spartacus moment looks like.
AOC Discovers Garbage Disposals
Recently, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez made a groundbreaking discovery, revealing something she claims to have never seen in her 29 years on this Earth: A garbage disposal. On her Instagram page, the lawmaker streamed a video, in which she marveled at this strange contraption. “This DC apartment is bougie and has things I’ve never seen before. Like what is a garbage disposal really for? Is it better or worse than throwing something in the garbage? More importantly, why is it so loud and yelling at me?”
For those who are limited to actual English, the word “bougie” means high-class or luxurious. Fortunately for the young lawmaker, Liberty Nation is here to answer her questions. First, a garbage disposal is used for removing waste. If Congress had one for legislation, you might find it clogged with bits and pieces of the failed Green New Deal. Secondly, garbage disposals are best for disposing of food, like those hamburgers you want to outlaw. Lastly, I have no idea why your garbage disposal is yelling at you. Does this happen often? Is your appliance responsible for putting all those wacky ideas in your head?
AOC’s “Critical Thinking” Skills
Last, but most certainly not least, AOC got into it with a Republican politician on Twitter because that’s what she does best. Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) chimed in on Sen. Cory Booker’s (D-NJ) claim that he would create a federal program for gun licensing. “What’s next? Will we have to register sharp knives? Maybe @AOC will make us register every time we buy meat as part of her #GreenNewDeal,” he tweeted. “The Democrats are officially the @BernieSanders Party. They want America to be less prosperous and less free.”
Ocasio-Cortez retorted, in her usual fashion, by crying sexism: “That a sitting US Senator can say something lacking so much critical thinking + honesty is embarrassing to the institution. If you were a female candidate, maybe you’d be called ‘unlikeable,’ ‘crazy,’ or ‘uninformed.’ But since you’re not, this inadequacy is accepted as normal.”
That’s right ladies and gentlemen, AOC actually believed that Scott was claiming she literally wants to make us register to buy our hamburger meat. He responded: “That a sitting Congresswoman doesn’t understand sarcasm would be embarrassing to the institution if you hadn’t embarrassed yours to the point of irrelevance already. America rejects socialism and will continue to.”
That didn’t go very well.
Tune in next week for the next installment!
