When it comes to political comedy, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is the gift that keeps on giving. Each week Liberty Nation uncovers the blunders that keep us wondering: How did she ever get elected?
AOC had tons of fun this week on Twitter, fighting against the evil forces of corporate classism and targeting the Trump administration’s new rules regarding food stamps. But she also got a not-so-honorable mention from a Democratic presidential frontrunner.
AOC Lashes Out at Trump over Food Stamps
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined her colleagues in the collective meltdown that occurred when the White House announced they would be adding work requirements to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), otherwise known as food stamps. She took to Twitter to make sure everyone knew exactly how she felt about the decision:
“My family relied on food stamps (EBT) when my dad died at 48. I was a student. If this happened then, we might’ve just starved. Now, many people will,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote. “It’s shameful how the GOP works overtime to create freebies for the rich while dissolving lifelines of those who need it most.”
Well, as touching as AOC’s story is, there’s one problem. It deceptively misrepresents the new rules laid out by the Trump administration. In fact, one could even say that the way she addressed the issue is a complete lie. Here’s the truth: The new work requirements apply only to able-bodied adults between the ages of 18 and 49 who are without dependents. So in reality, this rule would never have applied to either of her parents because they had children.
Needless to say, the social media crowd was not shy about correcting. But, as usual, she did not correct her supposed mistake.
Biden Throw Shade at AOC

Joe Biden
As the conflict between the moderate and socialist wings of the Democratic Party continues, many are wondering who will come out on top, especially in 2020. Democratic presidential frontrunner Joe Biden recently took a shot at the far-left faction in an interview with Axios.
In response to a question regarding the direction of the party, he dismissed the notion that it was veering too far to the left. “You all thought that what happened was the party moved extremely to the left after Hillary [Clinton]. AOC was the new party,” he said. He was quick to follow up with a compliment to AOC and one of his trademark phrases. “She’s a bright and wonderful person, but where’s the party? Come on, man.”
Axios pointed out that some of his opponents support policies like Medicare-For-All and other far-reaching government programs. Biden responded by claiming the voters were not on board with that agenda. “The party’s not there,” he said. “You know the numbers. You guys got it all wrong about what happened.”
Biden isn’t the only one speaking out against the hard left’s efforts to push the party closer to socialism. Former President Barack Obama has criticized the leftward move as well.
Classism At Uber?
AOC recently lashed out at Uber, accusing the company of engaging in “classism” in its headquarters. Why? Because its offices have separate restrooms for full-time employees and drivers. An Uber driver visited one of the company’s offices in Providence, Rhode Island and tweeted a photo of both bathrooms showing that one was for “partners” (drivers) and the other for “employees.”
In response to the tweet, AOC posted her own remarks: “Siri, show me what classism looks like.”
The company has come under fire for designating its drivers as contractors and not actual employees. They later apologized for the separate restrooms: “This was a mistake and we regret it. We are removing the signs and have made it clear that this was not appropriate.”
This wasn’t the first time the representative has targeted Uber for criticism. She also slammed the company for “unregulated expansion,” blaming it for the suicide of the taxi driver in New York. “Yellow cab drivers are in financial ruin due to the unregulated expansion of Uber. What was a living wage job now pays under minimum.”
What does AOC have in store for us next week? Tune in to find out!
