When it comes to political comedy, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is the gift that keeps on giving. Each week, Liberty Nation uncovers the blunders that keep us wondering: How did she ever get elected?
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had her usual week full of race-baiting and lashing out at Israel for exercising sovereignty. But that wasn’t all. A report recently surfaced that could portend dire news for the future of her political career.
Israel Boycotts Back!
Progressives and their pals in the press excoriated Israel after its government decided to bar Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN). The Jewish state cited the pair’s history of anti-Semitic comments and support for the Boycott, Divest, and Sanction (BDS) movement as the reason for banning the two members of Congress. Later, Israel’s interior minister, Aryeh Deri, relented, stating that Tlaib would be allowed to travel to the West Bank to see her grandmother under the condition that she not promote the BDS movement while in the territory. Tlaib turned down the offer.
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez decided to chime in on the situation, claiming that Trump’s supposed animus toward Muslims was the cause of this fiasco. She tweeted:
“MoC are frequently asked to visit Israel to “see things for ourselves.”
But Netanyahu choosing to ban the only 2 Muslim women in Congress from entering tells the US that only *some* Americans are welcome to Israel, not all.
Trump is exporting his bigotry &making matters worse.”
AOC’s comments are interesting, given the fact that she has been invited to visit Israel as well as a holocaust museum after making other remarks criticizing the Jewish state, but never accepted. It’s almost like she never intended to travel to the Holy Land in the first place, isn’t it?
AOC’s District Isn’t Ponying Up
A new analysis of donations to Ocasio-Cortez’s re-election campaign was published by The Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF), showing that a surprisingly small amount of money has been given by supporters living in her district. According to the DCNF, “The $1,525.50 Ocasio-Cortez received from her New York constituents represents less than 1% of her campaign’s itemized contributions reported to the FEC in the first half of 2019.”
The representative has raised more money than the other freshman lawmakers, but she falls far short when it comes to donations given by constituents residing in her district. “The average freshman representative’s reelection campaign received $107,141.29 in itemized contributions from their constituents in the first half of 2019,” the DCNF explained. “Ocasio-Cortez’s reported in-district fundraising haul of $1,525.50 was just 1.4% of that average.”
Both Omar and Tlaib are seeing similar numbers. But a quick look at Ocasio-Cortez’s polling reveals why she is receiving such a low number of donations from people in her district. A political action committee called Stop the AOC conducted a door-to-door survey, assessing how the people of her district feel about the lawmaker. They found that 50.88% have an unfavorable opinion of the representative. Only 10.75% believed that she had their best interests at heart when she played a role in scuttling the Amazon deal. Most telling is the fact that 33.44% are ready to vote her out of office. Looks like this comedy might be coming to an end in 2020.
Everyone Is Racist!
Finally, as you already know, Ocasio-Cortez can’t let a week go by without calling someone a racist for disagreeing with her far-left views. She recently gave an interview with Jon Favreau of the Pod Save America podcast, in which she made the usual remarks about supporters of President Donald Trump. After Favreau stated that there was racism at Trump rallies, Ocasio-Cortez concurred, saying that we should “talk about racism, its contours, its history, where it manifests, how it’s used.”
Then, she got to the race-baiting point:
“Like all winning political phenomena, whether they’re good or bad in your opinion, they rely on coalition building. So Trump relied on a coalition and a core part of that coalition were racists building a coalition with all sorts of other people that could be susceptible to racists views if they were blanketed and layered and made people feel good it not being a racist thing.”
There you have it, folks. Yet another hard leftist pretending that Trump supporters are motivated by racial bigotry. But we’ve seen this song and dance for years, haven’t we? Perhaps it is time for them to learn some new tricks.
What does AOC have in store for us next week? Tune in to find out!
