When it comes to political comedy, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is the gift that keeps on giving. Each week, Liberty Nation uncovers the blunders that keep us wondering: How did she ever get elected?
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gave us quite a show this week in her bid to become the prime source for political comedy. She decided to distance herself from former chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti after receiving negative attention due to his sudden departure. The lawmaker also demonstrated that she has no clue what the word “libertarian” means. And she even treated us to a little bit of race-baiting.
A-O-C a Libertarian?
In one of her live Instagram streams, Ocasio-Cortez discussed some of her political stances. She wandered into a political version of The Twilight Zone when she said: “I actually think I have a lot of common ground with many libertarian viewpoints in [the Republican] party.” Apologies in advance if you now have the show’s theme song stuck in your head.
Her comments were related to her viewpoints on the military, privacy rights, and immigration. But any casual observer of politics can see that her overall stances on politics show that she can’t even spell the word “libertarian,” much less ascribe to their views. Favoring open borders, privacy, and decreased military spending does not a libertarian make, although to be fair, she was not claiming to be a full-blown student of Ayn Rand.
Of course, real libertarians are not likely to be fooled by her comments, Ocasio-Cortez could have simply been attempting to play to her less progressive followers. But anyone who supports state-run healthcare, education, and greater involvement of the government in people’s lives should probably not attempt to identify with people who would consider a complete collapse of the state to be heaven on Earth.
Ocasio-Cortez Turns on Former Chief of Staff

AOC and Saikat Chakrabarti
Recently, Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, stepped down from his position amidst allegations of campaign finance violations and criticism of his aggressive approach to Democratic politicians. Over the past couple months, the operative had blasted certain left-leaning officials, even claiming that they were complicit in enacting racist policies.
Ocasio-Cortez has been largely silent on the issues facing her former employee, but she recently decided it would be politically expedient to turn on him. In an interview with the New York Daily News, she discussed Chakrabarti’s comments. “I think it was divisive,” she said. “I believe in criticizing stances, but I don’t believe in specifically targeting members.”
By now, you’re probably remembering how often the lawmaker has specifically lashed out at Republican members of Congress, but this level of hypocrisy is no longer a surprise when it comes to Rep. Ocasio-Cortez. It appears that she will keep Chakrabarti at arm’s length for the time being, at least until the American public forgets all about the controversy.
Purging the White Supremacy Within
Ocasio-Cortez recently waxed philosophical on Twitter, exhorting her followers to confront the hidden racism that lies dormant inside all of us. She tweeted:
“Recognizing white supremacy in ourselves – our institutions, our subconscious, our own past remarks or acts (no matter how consciously unintentional), is what makes the healing work ahead challenging.
But it is not impossible, and confronting it is the only way to move forward.
What this moment is asking of us is to discuss *white supremacy and racism* as much – or possibly more than – *white supremacists and racists.*
When we do that, I believe we will start to make progress.”
Now, dear reader, we may have our disagreements with Ocasio-Cortez, but it seems that it would be worthwhile to follow her advice in this regard. Take a moment right now, and deal with the white supremacy within your soul. Do you have a white car? A white dog? Do you prefer to eat your sandwiches with mayonnaise? How often do you listen to Johnny Cash? These are the types of questions you must ask yourself.
If any of this resonates with you, then you have discovered your inner neo-Nazi and now is the time to repent by reading at least five articles on Everyday Feminism per day and giving $20 to each black person you come across as a form of reparations. Only then will your fascist soul be cleansed. Thanks, A-O-C.
What does A-O-C have in store for us next week? Tune in to find out!
