When it comes to political comedy, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is the gift that keeps on giving. Each week, Liberty Nation uncovers the blunders that keep us wondering: How did she ever get elected?
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was back at her usual antics this week. She was called out for yet another example of hypocrisy. Then, she had some choice words for the horrible nation that is the United States. Finally, she engaged in her usual false accusations of bigotry. Looks like she had to make up for being relatively quiet last week.
Billionaires Should Only Support AOC
Let’s take a trip down memory lane, back when AOC insisted that political candidates should not take donations from the wealthy. Like many of her colleagues, the lawmaker has decried the influence of money in politics. But like many of her progressive cohorts, she subscribes to the “good for me, but not for thee” policy.
The Washington Examiner reported that the representative accepted a $2,700 donation from Democratic Presidential candidate Tom Steyer. The presidential contender isn’t exactly hard up for cash. In fact, the man is a billionaire. The donation was discovered by OpenSecrets.org. Last week, AOC lashed out at candidates who accept money from the wealthy during a campaign event for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). “It’s called having standards for your conduct to not be funded by billionaires but to be funded by the people.” Well, she has a point. After all, Steyer is a person, right?
US Is a Fascist Country
At a campaign rally for Sanders in Venice, California, Ocasio-Cortez railed against American society because we live in a country that enables people to become wealthy. She scoffed at the notion that the U.S. is “advanced,” saying that the country is closer to a fascist state.
“The richest country — who cares about how much gold is being amassed if we can’t realize an advanced society with those resources?” she said. “We’re here to say that what we’re living in right now is not an advanced society.”
At this point, one of the audience members yelled out that what AOC was describing was “fascism.” AOC agreed, saying, “A society that allows people — it is fascism.”
It is interesting that AOC compares the U.S. to a nation whose government exerts excessive control over the lives of everyday citizens when her goal is to have the government exert excessive control over the lives of everyday American citizens. Unfortunately, it appears that her followers don’t see the irony.
Trump Is Afraid of Strong Women?
Ocasio-Cortez recently made an appearance on Telemundo in which she lashed out at President Donald Trump. The lawmaker discussed her opposition to the president and his policies. “He’s a racist and he’s anti-immigrants, but more than that, his administration is very corrupt,” she said. “I think he has a track record of — I think he’s afraid of women, of strong women, of Latina women. It’s very antithetic, his values.”
One would think that leftists could come up with more creative ways to attack Trump. Is it that hard to think of other things to say than “He’s a racist/sexist/phobe?” Is it too much to ask that the Democrats give us some variety when they are making their nonsensical criticisms?
What does AOC have in store for us next week? Tune in to find out!
