When it comes to political comedy, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is the gift that keeps on giving. Each week, Liberty Nation uncovers the blunders that keep us wondering: How did she ever get elected?
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was at it again this week. The young representative was quite busy as she attacked another lawmaker over the Second Amendment. But that wasn’t all. She also managed to virtue signal against imaginary white supremacy in a gag rally and spread even more falsehoods about climate change and hurricanes.
AOC vs Dan Crenshaw
Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) has been a prominent part of the debate over gun control. Recently, he posted a story about a woman who used a firearm to defend herself against criminals who were attempting to rob her. He wrote: “Situations like this story are why we protect the 2nd Amendment. Side note: With universal background checks, I wouldn’t be able to let my friends borrow my handgun when they travel alone like this. We would make felons out of people just for defending themselves.”
Doesn’t sound too wacky, right? Well, AOC would beg to differ. The representative ranted on Twitter with one hand while clutching her pearls with the other. “You are a member of Congress. Why are you ‘lending’ guns to people unsupervised who can’t pass a basic background check?” she wrote. “The people you’re giving a gun to have likely abused their spouse or have a violent criminal record, & you may not know it. Why on earth would you do that?”
Gadzooks! Apparently, Rep. Crenshaw hangs out with wife beaters and violent criminals. Who knew? Thank goodness we have Rep. Ocasio-Cortez to keep the American public informed.
Bailing Out Protesters?
Earlier this week, about 200 people gathered in Boston to participate in the “Straight Pride Parade.” The event, which is an apparent act of satire designed to poke fun at the progressive left, was roundly scorned by activists and pundits alike. Naturally, the rally attracted everyone’s favorite Brown Shirt imitators, Antifa.
The hard-left group, whose members outnumbered the rallygoers, did its usual chaos and mayhem routine and 36 members were detained by law enforcement. The individuals in question were armed with dangerous weapons and spoiling for a fight. Some even assaulted police officers.
When the news broke about the arrests, Rep. Ayanna Pressly (D-MA) and you-know-who urged their social media followers to contribute to a fund in support of those who were arrested. “One way to support the local LGBTQ community impacted by Boston’s white supremacist parade?” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Contribute to the Bail Fund for the activists who put themselves on the line protecting the Boston community.”
Well, it goes to show that when you’re a member of Antifa, you clearly have friends in high places.
Hurricanes and Climate Change
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, who never misses an opportunity to push her asinine, big government Green New Deal, recently tweeted about Hurricane Dorian. The lawmaker was attempting to link the event to climate change. She posted a video showing the damage done by the disaster and wrote: “This is what climate change looks like.”
Presidential hopefuls Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Julian Castro also weighed in, claiming that climate change was the cause of hurricanes that have occurred in the region over the past couple years. But according to the experts, these assessments are inaccurate.
The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reported that there have been no drastic changes in the number of hurricanes that occur each year. “No robust trends in annual numbers of tropical storms, hurricanes and major hurricanes … have been identified over the past 100 years in the North Atlantic basin,” the panel wrote.
Put simply, it appears that hurricane activity is at normal levels. So much for that theory.
What does AOC have in store for us next week? Tune in to find out!
