AOC was rather quiet this week. Perhaps she just wasn’t feeling particularly newsworthy. However, she still managed to engage in some of her usual antics, the likes of which has made her everyone’s favorite socialist. This week, AOC began fighting to kill more jobs in her district and made a bizarre prediction about Miami, Florida.
AOC Tries to Kill Jobs … Again
Remember when Ocasio-Cortez fought to keep Amazon from moving its headquarters to New York City? Her constituents weren’t too happy with her about that since the company could have created tens of thousands of jobs for New Yorkers. The lawmaker appears to be trying to make up for that blunder by repeating it – this time with a liquor retailer.
Total Wine & More, a well-known liquor company often called the “Walmart of Liquor,” plans to open stores in the city. Ocasio-Cortez is none too pleased by this decision and is seeking to prevent it. In a letter to Vincent Bradley, the Liquor Authority Chairman, the young lawmaker attempted to make the case for preventing even more jobs from being created in the Big Apple.
“My district enjoys many of the benefits of a vibrant small business economy: job creation for and by community members, socio-economic mobility for immigrants and new Americans, and long-lasting relationships between proprietors and their customers,” she wrote. AOC also indicated that she was “deeply concerned about the potential impacts that MCT Fine Wine & Spirits would have on the local small business community.”
Looks like New Yorkers in need of jobs will just have to wait until Ocasio-Cortez is out of office if they hope to gain employment.
Adios, Miami
Ever since Ocasio-Cortez rose to national prominence, she has made a series of questionable statements about the future of the world in relation to climate change. In order to sell her precious Green New Deal, the representative has continually repeated dire predictions made by those on the hard left to promote more socialism.
You may already be familiar with the contention that if the United States does not take sufficient action before 12 years pass, it will be too late to reverse the effects of climate change and Earth will explode in a fiery ball of flame just like the planet Krypton.
But recently, the lawmaker decided to look into her crystal ball and make another prediction. After hearing from the voices in her head, the representative declared that Miami was in dire straits. “When it comes to climate change, what is not realistic is not responding with a solution on the scale of the crisis — because what’s not realistic is Miami not existing in a few years,” she said at an NAACP forum. “So we need to be realistic about the problem.”
It is unknown why the lawmaker decided to discuss climate change at a meeting for black Americans, whose top priorities are jobs, education, and healthcare, but she probably figured, “What the heck? It’s not like we have any competition for the black vote anyway, right?”
It’s not that farfetched, dear reader. After all, why else would she decide to bore a room full of black Americans to death?
What does AOC have in store for us next week? Tune in to find out!
