Warren’s Wall Attack
Under the guise of showing concern about the coronavirus, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has written a bill that seeks to completely defund the border wall. She asks that every dollar being spent to protect the southern border be shifted into a fund to deal with the spread of the disease, to be administered through USAID and HHS. Make no mistake, this is in no way a genuine attempt to head off the virus, it’s a two-pronged attack that benefits no one but Warren herself.
As Liberty Nation’s Graham J. Noble explains:
Warren goes on to explain that this transfer of funds would serve as “a down payment of an estimated $10 billion” to combat the possibility of a large-scale Coronavirus outbreak in the U.S. If this is just the down payment, one assumes the senator believes tens of billions more dollars will be needed. For what, exactly, she does not clarify.
What Warren hopes for, no doubt, is a speedy transfer of funds into her campaign coffers before Super Tuesday on March 3. A top-three finish in the South Carolina primary on Feb. 29 is practically a must if Warren is to keep her presidential hopes alive. That prospect is vague, at best. The latest Monmouth University poll puts the senator at 8%, which is seven points behind billionaire Tom Steyer, who is in third place behind Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). Without a cash infusion or a strong showing in the Palmetto State, Warren is unlikely to have the money needed to take her campaign into the 14 Super Tuesday states.
And that about the whole truth of it. She is flagging in the polls and wants more cash for her campaign in the hopes that she can be the compromise-candidate in a race that may end up brokered. She wants to damage the Trump campaign by pulling back on one of the president’s main platforms
What to Watch For
This bill is never going to pass, and if it did, it would be vetoed. This won’t stop Warren claiming that she is the only candidate with a solid plan to deal with the coronavirus. Expect multiple TV performances in an appeal to the anti-wall base.
Biden’s Moratorium
Proving that politicians will stoop to any level to find favor with a largely turned-off electorate, former Vice President Joe Biden decided it was time to reach out to the open border activists. In a bold move, he declared that if elected, he would put a 100-day moratorium on deporting illegal immigrants.
The fact is, that almost all of those who are deported have committed crimes other than immigration-based crimes. There are hardcore criminals, murderers, rapists, child abusers, through to violent assaults and theft… With a 100-day moratorium, authorities would be forced to release these criminals back onto the streets.
LN’s Kelli Ballard outlined the real dangers:
So, Biden’s moratorium would release criminal aliens such as Guatemalan national Ingrid Corzo-Armas, 49, who ICE just arrested on Feb. 17 for re-entering the U.S. illegally. Corzo-Armas had previously been convicted for kidnapping and murder and served a state prison sentence in California. Then there’s Mexican national Cruz Guillermo Barron-Nunez, a 39-year-old aggravated felon who was caught trying to cross the border in the Yuma, AZ sector illegally on Feb. 25. According to ICE, “he had been convicted and sentenced to 19 years for first-degree murder and 11 years for armed robbery.”
The voters who support sanctuary cities and open borders are already voting Democrat in November; no amount of pandering will make them any less committed. And at what cost does this come?
What to Watch For
It seems Democrat nominees are seeking to one-up each other on appealing to the extreme progressives in the party, little realizing that each sop to the base is one more chunk of voters across America who will be pushed toward Donald Trump or even to just stay at home on election day.
Washington Whispers & Other Juicy Tidbits
Be on the lookout for:
- Super Tuesday may see a handful of Democrats drop out of the race. But with the possibility of a brokered convention looming large, maybe some who should leave will hang on in the hopes of getting at least a VP pick.
- Democrats will be building up the dangers of the coronavirus in the hopes of tanking the economy before the election. Be prepared for major fear-mongering.
