Burn it All Down
For most of American history, the party out of power has played the part of the loyal opposition. They don’t much care for the ideas of the party running things, but they love the nation and have the same end goals as their opposition – they just see different routes to get there.
That really doesn’t describe the Democratic Party in the era of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Democrats today – and the left in general – will do anything to stop Donald Trump from being re-elected in November. Anything. They would rather see the collapse of the nation as we know it than to see Trump in the Oval Office come January 2021. But how have we come to the point where one of the most powerful political parties in our nation would be willing to burn it all down?
Liberty Nation’s Tim Donner explains the twisted thinking that has taken over:
“The strategy may be evil, but it is not complicated: If we scare people to death and force them to remain fearful and sheltered, call Trump an evil white supremacist (or lately Mussolini, according to the once-respectable James Clyburn), and keep people focused on sickness, unemployment, and misery, maybe they will blame Trump and vote him out.
To hell with those whose lives have slipped into the abyss through this damnable pandemic. They are nothing more than pawns in the left’s political chess game to take down a duly elected president by any and all means which avail themselves – the nation be damned.”
To this end, we see headlines like Salon’s “Trump earns a new title: Terrorist-in-Chief” and The Washington Post’s “Now we know: Trump’s racist appeals have backfired.”
What to Watch for
As we near Election Day in November, the attacks on Trump will only get worse – that is, more frequent and more outlandish – like accusing Trump of stealing votes by towing away a mail truck full of mail-in ballots.
What Happens When It Backfires?
But what happens to all this hate when the plan backfires? What if Trump not only wins his bid for re-election in November, but does so with a landslide? Many a mind may melt on the far left, and we’ll almost certainly see a resurgence of crying and screaming at the sky. But will we see increased violence? Will there be a revolution?
Liberty Nation’s Onar Åm has another theory:
“Despite the radicalization of the Democratic Party, most of its voters are moderate. If they expect a Biden landslide but get the exact opposite, it could guide them to the point of self-realization. If they were so wrong in their expectations, what else did they get equally wrong? Any person curious about the truth will wonder why the alleged racist Trump scored the largest Republican vote tally among non-whites in a century. Could it be that he is not a racist after all?
Although the most radical surely will suffer from cognitive dissonance and deny the result, a significant shock or crisis is often sufficient to make a house of cards collapse. The coming election, therefore, provides one of the most intriguing psychological experiments in American history.”
What to Watch for
It has been suggested that if Republicans can get just a fraction of the black vote – 15% or more – then the Democrats won’t win another election. Could a Donald Trump landslide mean the beginning of the end of the Democratic Party? It may not be likely, but it certainly isn’t impossible, either. We’re used to thinking of the Republicans and the Democrats as the two players in the two-party system, but it hasn’t always been that way. Every other political party has fallen from power before, so don’t think it can’t happen again.
Washington Whispers & Other Juicy Tidbits
Be on the lookout for:
- In what has become the norm for Democrats, House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) scared up some fear mongering in an interview on Saturday. He criticized President Trump’s opposition to mail-in voting, saying the president is “signing a death warrant for a lot of people.” Evidently, if Trump is re-elected, a lot of people will die. It’s unclear just how that’s going to happen, though.
