Want to hear something shocking? A majority of White House reporters believe that President Donald Trump is the most anti-media president in the history of the United States. Okay – maybe that isn’t much of a shock. However, Politico recently released a report that discusses the attitude of the press regarding the president’s approach to news outlets. The Washington Times reports:
Published on Mr. Trump’s 100th day in office, the report released Saturday indicates White House journalists overwhelmingly agree the current administration is the worst ever with respect to its interactions with the press.
Sixty-eight percent of respondents answered “true” when asked recently if Mr. Trump is the most openly anti-press president in history, Politico reported; about one-third, or 32 percent, responded “false.”
In March, Politico conducted interviews with sixty-three members of the White House press corps. They asked members to rank the president and former President Barack Obama on a scale of one to ten with ten being the most hostile. The results were predictable. President Trump received a score of 7.2. Obama ranked more favorably with a score of 5.3. Of course, the report says nothing about the press’s frequently unfair coverage of the Trump administration.
The feud between the Trump administration and the establishment media has continued since the days of the campaign. The president has continually attacked them as “fake news” for their biased reporting. Unlike other Republican politicians, he has not been afraid to call them out for their disingenuous coverage.
Liberal bias in the press is not new; they have criticized conservatives for years. However, since Donald Trump became the Republican nominee for president, leftist publications and news organizations have intensified their attacks by publishing reports with a decidedly left-wing slant.
Media Tenor’s analysis found that 3% of the news reports on the Trump administration which were broadcast on NBC and CBS were positive. 43% were negative while 54% were considered neutral. Fox News’ “Special Report” was less negative. 25% of reports were negative while 12% were positive. The remaining 43% of stories were neutral.
The results of this study show that Fox News was the most balanced in their reporting while both NBC and CBS publish stories in a way that promotes the leftists’ point of view. Rather than publishing stories that inform the public, the establishment media pushes narratives intended to influence our thinking. It should come as no surprise that the president calls them the fake news.
Last year, CNN, CBS, MSNBC, and other leftist organizations worked around the clock to make sure Hillary Clinton became president. They used their platforms to disparage Trump as much as possible. The Washington Post went so far as to consult the Democratic National Committee to obtain opposition research to use in a hit piece on the president. The Washington Times reports:
Dana Milbank, a Washington Post columnist, asked the DNC for research for a negative Trump column he wrote in April. Mr. Milbank’s column was titled: “The Ten Plagues of Trump” and had a list of “outrageous things” said by Mr. Trump. Internal DNC emails suggest Mr. Milbank relied heavily on the DNC’s opposition research to write his article.
Of the 10 “plagues” listed by Mr. Milbank, the DNC provided eight of them.
Of course, there are several other actions they took in their unsuccessful bid to get Clinton elected. It is interesting that the left wants us to believe that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to sway the result of the presidential election when they clearly collaborated with the Democratic party to help Clinton win.
Recently, Gallup released the results of a poll that the majority of Americans believe that the fourth estate is partisan. People no longer trust the press to report in a way that is balanced. They know these organizations serve as a propaganda tool for the left. President Trump may very well be the most anti-media president in history. However, it was only a matter of time before Republicans elected a chief executive who would refuse to back down from the press. The truth is that leftist news organizations have been anti-conservative for decades. It was the media who started this fight, not Donald Trump.
