The political left just sunk to a new low in their efforts to target conservatives. Recently, an unknown Resistance member published the personal information of GOP lawmakers directly from a computer in the House of Representatives.
In the wake of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s Senate committee testimony, conservative senators have received threats directly to their home addresses and personal cell phones. Known as “doxxing,” the publishing of these lawmakers’ personal contact details online for all to see could potentially place their lives in jeopardy.
GOP Senators Doxxed
Later, it was discovered that the IP address of the computer used to publish the senators’ information was tied to Representative Maxine Waters’ (D-CA) office. Once the information surfaced, Waters issued a denial. “Lies, lies, and more despicable lies,” she tweeted, continuing:
“I am utterly disgusted by the spread of the completely false, absurd, and dangerous lies and conspiracy theories that are being pedaled by ultra-right wing pundits, outlets, and websites who are promoting a fraudulent claim that a member of my staff was responsible for the release of the personal information of Member of United States Senate on Wikipedia.”
Senator Rand Paul took to Twitter in response to the doxxing, and called for an investigation: “Yesterday there was an attempt to incite people by publishing the personal information of Senators – including home addresses – endangering them & their families,” he wrote, “This should be investigated & and perpetrators punished. There is too much hatred and violence in politics these days.”
Unfortunately, this is not the first time that a government employee has used work tools to target their political opposition personally. In a recent video, journalists working with Project Veritas caught government workers admitting to using government resources to further their Democratic Socialist agenda. One stated that she used the state’s tools to track down a conservative lobbyist and using this information, her group organized a protest at his home.
A Dangerous Pattern
The group or individual who doxxed these senators was engaging in reckless behavior that could incite violent activists to take action. By making the Senators’ home addresses public, they are all but goading potential bad actors into targeting conservatives who might side with Judge Kavanaugh.
This is a dangerous trend when taken in conjunction with the recent propensity for leftists to encourage the harassment of political opponents. Ian Milhiser, an editor for Think Progress, recently tweeted: “Tell me again why we shouldn’t confront Republicans where they eat, where they sleep, and where they work until they stop being complicit in the destruction of our democracy.”
But perhaps the most egregious example in this downward spiral belongs to career lawmaker for the Democrats, Maxine Waters. Earlier this year, “Mad Max” encouraged her followers to harass members of the Trump administration in public. “If you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out, and you create a crowd,” she yelled. “And you push back on them. Tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere!” While this may not be an explicit call for violence, it’s easy to see how a disturbed type might take her exhortation to a violent end.
Unfortunately, none of this behavior is a surprise – the left’s cultural totalitarian ideology dictates that they further their agenda by any means necessary. They seek to bully GOP lawmakers into rejecting Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation, and the only way to deal with a bully is to push back.
When threats and bullying become an everyday part of the political process, it is time to stop and ask the vital question: Are these political monsters doing this for the American people or for their own nefarious ends?
