Before a backdrop that resembled something out of a dystopian Orwellesque movie set, President Joe Biden gave a supposedly non-political speech in which he preached hellfire and brimstone at those who dare to disagree with him. He warned of an onslaught of Trump-inspired extremism that is somehow threatening democracy and endangering the rights of millions of Americans.
Biden’s angry Sept. 1 diatribe mirrored comments made by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who gave a rather peculiar definition of the term “extremist” in a press briefing earlier in the day.
“You know, when you ask me about the MAGA agenda, especially as it relates to Congress, relates to elected officials,” Jean-Pierre began, “it is one of the most extreme agendas that we have seen… it is the extreme part of the Republican Party.”
