The Difference Between Swedish Neutrality and Swiss Independence

by | Dec 22, 2017 | International

During World War II, two prominent European countries opted to stay out. Sweden remained neutral, while Switzerland stayed independent. Decades later, we see the true meaning of those two stances.

Switzerland is independent and therefore fiercely defends its borders, national integrity, and cultural heritage.  Sweden is neutral and doesn’t care who or what comes in. Sweden remains neutral even to its own nation, people, culture, and destiny – with disastrous consequences.

Independence is integral to the Swiss nation. While America has silly debates about gun control, all able-bodied Swiss men who are conscripted to serve in the army are issued a gun, which they keep at home, so that they’re able to respond quickly as a militia.

The Swiss are serious about democracy and low taxes too. Switzerland is closer to a confederation than to a federation. Each district, called a canton, has extensive autonomy, and the people frequently vote over political issues in a direct democracy. Some of the lowest tax rates in the industrialized world are found in Swiss cantons.

And they like their own culture. In 2016 two young Muslim girls living in Switzerland made headlines when they were denied citizenship for refusing to swim with boys. That may seem harsh to outsiders, but the message was clear: no misogyny and backward cultures allowed in this culture. Either you integrate, or you get out.

Contrast this with Sweden, which has become notorious for its suicidal path. For decades, Swedes have been told that “diversity is strength” and that the nation needs immigrants to pay for the old people who didn’t have enough children. Now the verdict is in, and the immigrants will not be paying for anyone. On the contrary, it is now evident that ethnic Swedes must pick up the bill. Are Swedes enraged by this betrayal and economic and cultural carnage? Absolutely not. Their solution? Raise the pension age.

That’s right. Rather than admitting that they screwed up, Swedish politicians will now let old Swedes pay for welfare migrants instead. The Swedish newspaper Expressen writes:

“From 2018 we expect increases in welfare costs to outpace tax income significantly, states Annika Wallenskog, chief economist of SKL.

Translation: there will be more migrant welfare recipients and fewer ethnic Swedes to pay for them. The SKL report indirectly confirms that the welfare recipients are migrants when it states that “the Swedish population is increasing rapidly, and this implies significantly higher welfare costs.” Ethnic Swedes have a birth rate well below the replacement level. All the population growth comes from immigration.

The contrast between Sweden and Switzerland could not be grimmer, and their destinies will likely diverge greatly in the future.

It is fair to predict that in one hundred years from now Switzerland will still be going strong, independent as ever. Sweden may no longer be neutral by then because there may well be no more suicidal Swedes left.
