Despite mountains of evidence that some teachers inject elements of Critical Race Theory (CRT) into their classrooms, the left continues its efforts to gaslight Americans into believing that there’s nothing to see here. Yet another news story has surfaced showing that a school is overtly teaching parts of CRT to their students. The question is: How long with the left continue to lie about it?
Virginia School District Pushes CRT
The Fairfax County Public School district recently sent out documentation to its teachers instructing them on how to teach CRT to their students. The Daily Wire reports:
“Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) district sent out a resource — intended to be a ‘teacher facing item’ — which defined Critical Race Theory, among other progressive ideologies, and explained how to implement the ideologies in the classroom. Examples included ‘culturally relevant pedagogy,’ ‘institutional/systemic racism,’ ‘anti-racism education,’ ‘anti-hate education,’ and more.”
The report also notes: “The district defined Critical Race Theory as an ‘interpretive framework’ that ‘examines the appearance of race and racism across dominant cultural modes of expression.’” The PowerPoint presentation explained that “in adopting this approach, CRT scholars attempt to understand how victims of systemic racism are affected by cultural perceptions of race and how they are able to represent themselves to counter prejudice.” One slide informed teachers that CRT is an effective method of dissecting issues like “school funding, segregation, language policies, discipline policies, curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and accountability policies.” The presentation also explained that “institutional/systemic racism” implements policies that “produce inequitable outcomes for people of color and advantages for white people.”
It was also suggested that educators should teach their students that racism is a public health emergency.
Not the Only Example
There are several other stories revealing that there is an effort by some to teach elements of Critical Race Theory in K-12 schools. Earlier in July, the National Education Association (NEA), the nation’s largest teachers union, announced that it planned to promote CRT in 14,000 school districts. While the NEA can’t compel the teaching of the theory, it does have tremendous influence with the school boards that can. There should be no doubt that they will use whatever leverage they can to ensure that these ideas are being taught to students.
Moreover, the Zinn Education Center, a far-left non-profit organization dedicated to “the teaching of people’s history in classrooms across the country,” created a pledge for teachers to sign declaring that they would teach CRT in defiance of laws banning it. So far, nearly 5,000 teachers have signed the pledge.
At this point, there are far too many stories in which educators and school districts promote CRT by name to allow the Democrats to continue pretending that it’s not an issue. Despite their insistence that the theory is not being used to indoctrinate children into hard-left views on race in America, the public can easily see what is happening in too many classrooms across the country. Indeed, a recent Harvard/Harris poll revealed that most parents, regardless of political affiliation, are not on board with the teaching of CRT. Unfortunately for the left, it appears the Democrats are failing to read the room.
