It appears that Harvey Weinstein, super-producer, and Oscar-winner-maker, is indeed just a predatory pervert. Calling him a pig would insult swine the world around, and belittle his criminal treatment of young starlets forever changed at the touch of his hand.
But were all of Weinstein’s accusers indeed victims? Weinstein is undoubtedly one of Satan’s minions; but did these now powerful, wealthy women who are coming forward make a deal with the Devil himself?
Dream of Californication
Maybe it’s just business as usual in the entertainment industry. Case in point, Kaya Jones, a former member of the pop girl’s band, Pussycat Dolls, is on the offense, calling out her bosses as nothing more than pimps:
“It’s not just Harvey Weinstein,” said Jones, “Harvey’s just the tip of the iceberg.” She went on to suggest nothing will be done about any larger problem in Hollywood. “I just couldn’t stay in the group that I wanted to be a part of due to the fact that there were sexual advances consistently which is turning the girls into, you know, ‘how are we going to outdo one another in sexual favors with executives.’”
“What’s sad, is that our industry is really tainted,” she continued. “I went to my manager straight away and he looked at me and said just do whatever they ask. That was the man that was supposed to protect my career. I went to friends that are also entertainers, male and female, well-known names, all said, you’ll be famous, just do whatever they want you to do – the same response as the managers.”
Jones walked away from the Pussycat Dolls with her dignity bruised but not broken.
In Like Flynn
Let’s face it; America has known the sexually-charged proclivities of Hollyweird since the first silent film hit the theaters. From Charlie Chaplin’s multiple marriages to 16-year-old starlets, Clara Bow’s rumored sex partners, Elizabeth Taylor’s revolving door of husbands, and swashbuckling pretty boy Errol Flynn’s claim that he had slept with over 10,000 women. How did Flynn have time to make movies? And at least one of those women was underage, and Flynn found himself in a bit of a pickle, on more than one occasion:
“His off-screen passions; drinking, fighting, boating, and sex, made his film escapades seem pale. His love life brought him considerable fame, three statutory rape trials, and a lasting memorial in the expression In like Flynn.”
And in true Hollywood style, all was forgiven with Flynn for the rape accusations, and he went on to make more movies. What wasn’t overlooked was that his lifestyle aged him prematurely and he was booted from the bright lights because he looked, well, old. That is what is unacceptable in Hollywood. 
If you are a star-maker, there will be star-struck nubile wannabes lined up for a chance to wow with their unique brand of talent. Roman Polanski was once one of those star makers; until he was accused of raping a 13-year old girl at the home of Jack Nicholson. Polanski pled guilty and then fled the country. In 2009, Polanski was arrested in Zurich, Switzerland, as he attempted to receive a lifetime achievement award. A petition to release Roman soon emerged with Hollywood elites, producers, director, actors alike, rushing to sign:
“The petition has now been signed by more than 70 film industry luminaries, including Polanski’s fellow directors Michael Mann, Wim Wenders, Pedro Almodóvar, Darren Aronofsky, Terry Gilliam, Julian Schnabel, the Dardenne brothers, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Wong Kar-Wai, Walter Salles and Jonathan Demme. Actors Tilda Swinton, Monica Bellucci, and Asia Argento, as well as producer Harvey Weinstein, have also put their names on the petition. Yesterday, Weinstein stated he was “calling on every film-maker we can to help fix this terrible situation.”
Asia Argento is one of Weinstein’s alleged victims. When asked about why she was supporting a child rapist, she tweeted, “Polanski… there’s no question he did wrong. But he got screwed by the judge. That’s what the petition was about.”

Is this what Hollywood’s sex culture has done to victims over time? It seems that all is forgiven with the amount of talent one has been given by God or the amount of money one can make. Heck, Woody Allen supposedly had a sexual affair with his underage adopted daughter while married to Mia Farrow. Once divorced from Farrow, he did marry her. One can only imagine the confusion at family events. But did his sexual depravity hurt his career? Nope.
We have become immune over the antics of Rob Lowe and his sex tapes with unsuspecting (albeit of age) girls. To the public meltdowns of Brittney Spears and Lyndsay Lohan, and to the glorification of teen moms and frequent flyers in rehab—Hollywood made a mint off their backs with the shows, Celebrity Rehab and Teen Mom. What’s next on the potential script list? The North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) Cribs on MTV? Pedophiles and DIY Playhouses?
Hollywood needs to be drained of the depravity that allows for the likes of Harvey Weinstein, Jimmy Kimmel, Bill Cosby and their ilk. And, also for those who have stood silent and collected a fat paycheck over the years. Those people have got to crawl back into that dark and twisty place they came from so many years ago. As the country-pop band wrote of their rise to stardom, “They’ll promise fancy cars and diamond rings, And all sorts of shiny things, But girl, you’ll remember what your knees are for.” And they mean to pray, by the way.
