A federal grand jury in Brooklyn, New York, has indicted five alleged Chinese spies. They have been accused of participating in an effort on behalf of the Chinese government to repress voices critical of the communist regime. This development comes just after American and British authorities warned of increased espionage activity coming from Beijing.
The indictment alleges that the five defendants collaborated to suppress the speech of US residents who were vocally critical of the Chinese government by subjecting them to harassment, surveillance, and other actions designed to silence them.
