Carson v. Makin

Ruling in Carson v. Makin, on June 21, 2022, the majority opinion declared that “Locke cannot be read to generally authorize the State to exclude religious persons from the enjoyment of public benefits on the basis of their anticipated religious use of the benefits.”

The question presented was:

“[W]hether this restriction violates the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment.”
