On Monday, June 23, President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire and an end to hostilities. The agreement comes two days after Iran’s nuclear program was crippled by massive US airstrikes which took the Islamic State completely by surprise.
On his Truth Social platform, the president wrote, “It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE… for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED!” This news comes just hours after the Islamic Republic launched several missiles at the American Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. The missiles were reportedly intercepted before they hit their targets. No casualties or damage has been reported.
