“One of the most threatening places to be in politics is a black conservative.” – Senator Tim Scott
The left doesn’t like black conservatives. Well…they don’t like any conservatives. But they REALLY don’t like black conservatives.
The left has had issues with black conservatives for a pretty long time.
But wait, aren’t they supposed to be tolerant? Aren’t they expected to value diversity and inclusion? They love minorities, right?
Turns out this “tolerance” and “inclusion” only applies to minorities who agree with their views. See, the left isn’t quite as tolerant as they make themselves out to be. They don’t value diversity of thought. They accept you only if you subscribe to their views.
This is why they respond to black conservatives with such vitriol. They resort to name calling. They will make that person seem like they are a traitor to their race.
Other black people respond to black conservatives in the same manner. They simply can’t understand why an African-American wouldn’t buy what the Democrats have been selling us for decades.
House n*gga. Uncle Tom. Oreo. Sellout.
These are just a few of the names black conservatives have been called. It’s kind of interesting that people who claim to hate stereotypes have no problem enforcing the stereotype that says black people have to vote Democrat.
Just look at how the left treated Comedian Steve Harvey for committing the cardinal sin of — wait for it — meeting with President-elect Donald Trump! He was excoriated on social media. Even though he supported Hillary Clinton in the election!
When commenting on Dr. Ben Carson, black columnist Cynthia Tucker wrote the following:
“He will likely be remembered as the GOP’s latest black mascot, a court jester, a minstrel show.”
Ouch! All that just because Carson has a different political point of view? Of course, she’s not the only one to lash out at Carson.
It’s not enough to just say that he’s a guy that they disagree with. They have to demean him. Unfortunately, this type of reaction is common among leftists and the black people that vote for them.
What has the Democratic party done for us really? As black people, why do we assume that the Democratic party is really our party?
In all of the major cities that are governed by Democrats, we aren’t doing very well. We deal with high crime rates. We have more poverty. The education in these cities is low quality. Living under Democratic governance hasn’t been all that fantastic for black people, has it?
If we look at this objectively, we really don’t have much of a reason to be so committed to Democrats. But we do it anyway, and they take us for granted.
So why exactly does the left hate black conservatives? I’m so glad you asked! They hate us because we are a threat.
We are black people who don’t blindly follow Democrats. We don’t buy into their message. We don’t fit into the box they want to keep us in.
Demetrius Minor wrote a column on this very issue where he wrote the following:
“Black conservatives are targeted because they defy the status quo and ignore the stereotypical imagery of blacks being one-dimensional and not having an open mind.”
Our existence is a threat because it challenges the notion that black people must vote Democrat. It repudiates the idea that the Democratic party has our best interests at heart. It threatens to expose the fact that the Democratic party has failed the black community.
They are afraid of us.
During his campaign, President-elect Donald Trump asked black people, what the hell do you have to lose?
Okay, I’ll admit it. Trump wasn’t the best vessel for that message.
But stay with me here. What do you think would happen if more and more black people started seriously asking that same question? What if black conservatives began asking that question of their friends and family? What if they saw more black people on television asking that question?
It might cause more black people to rethink their allegiance to the Democrats.
That’s what they’re afraid of.
That’s why they want to silence us.
The left will do anything to prevent black conservatives from getting too much exposure. The NAACP did it to Deneen Borelli when they wouldn’t allow her to have a booth at one of their national conferences. The Smithsonian National Museum Of African American History And Culture did it with Clarence Thomas when they neglected to feature him in their exhibits.
The left has continuously tried to keep black conservatives from reaching their treasured voting base. That’s why they respond so aggressively when a black conservative manages to get some attention. That’s why they try to paint us as people who hate our own.
They don’t want black people to hear about the benefits self-determination and smaller government. They don’t want black people to hear about lower taxes. They don’t want black people to start believing that they don’t have to be dependent on the government.
These attacks won’t continue to work on black conservatives. We already see a shift taking place in this country.
The policies of the left have been rejected. Even by black people. Sure, Donald Trump didn’t get the majority of the black vote. Black voter turnout in this past election dropped. They may not have wanted to vote for Trump, but they definitely did not want to vote for a continuation of Obama’s policies.
Here’s the thing: Black people are not leftists. In many ways, black people are just as conservative as Republicans. But voting Democrat is something that is deeply ingrained in the culture. We’ve been voting for Democrats for 40 years.
But it looks like that could be changing. Black people seem to be growing increasingly dissatisfied with the Democratic party. The fact that they didn’t show up in this election like they did in the previous election shows this.
The reality is this, the left can’t help black people. It can’t give us what we need. Only we can help ourselves. Conservatism says that we are responsible for our destinies. We have the freedom to go after what we want, without the government “helping” us.
If black people actually want to move forward, we need to have a government that doesn’t stand in our way. We need to be able to pursue our dreams ourselves.
As black people, we have been through a lot, haven’t we? Black people have suffered through slavery. We made it through the Jim Crow era. We have endured some of the most horrific things imaginable. But if we can get through these things, we don’t need to depend on the government to live the lives we want to live.
And this is what the left doesn’t want us to know. That’s why they hate black conservatives.
