The hard left has some serious issues to work out if they can’t pull off a simple protest without wreaking havoc. Last week, world leaders convened for the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany. Naturally, this drew the usual anti-capitalist protestors. These far-left demonstrators call any who disagree with them Fascists but use fascist techniques themselves. True to form, their protest quickly turned into a riot – complete with fires, broken windows, and injuries.
Beginning the day before the conference, activists attacked property and buildings using the all-too-familiar black bloc tactics that many hard leftists seem to favor. They set dozens of cars ablaze using flares and hurled rocks through the windows of banks and other small businesses – but they didn’t stop with property damage. Over 150 police officers were injured as they sought to stop the destruction.
While there were undoubtedly protesters from other anti-capitalist organizations, one of the biggest contributors to the chaos was a group called Refuse Fascism. According to The Daily Caller, Refuse Fascism is a hard left group that obtains funding from the Alliance for Global Justice, a George Soros-funded organization. They also list Ivy League leftist professor Cornel West – a member of the 2016 Democrat National Committee – as one of their initiators.
Refuse Fascism is an American organization, but they claimed to have a German contingent. They used their Facebook page to inform their followers that their group was in Hamburg – one of their banners can be seen in a photo of the crowd of protesters. As with most hard left organizations, Refuse Fascism promotes anti-capitalist ideas under the guise of fighting fascism. They have been heavily involved in the anti-Trump movement – literally calling the Trump administration a fascist regime. On their website, they state:
In Trump’s election campaign he encouraged and fed on the threat and use of violence to build a movement and come to power. In his inaugural address he pledged allegiance only to this movement. What is crucial to understand is that once in power fascism essentially eliminates traditional democratic rights.
President Trump fed on the threat and use of violence to build a movement and come to power? If that ain’t the pot calling the kettle black, I don’t know what is. The left is far more prone to use violence to promote their views than conservatives – as they plainly demonstrate with nearly every protest. Daily Caller is only one of the sites that has documented the left’s violent practices.
On numerous occasions, leftist groups have used force to prevent conservatives from speaking on college campuses. They physically attack participants attending pro-Trump rallies. They destroyed property and set fires in Washington D.C. on the day the president’s inauguration. And yet, Refuse Fascism claims that President Trump feeds on violence. The hypocrisy is astounding!
Refuse Fascism seems to think they can bring about the removal of the Republicans currently in power. On July 15, the group plans to stage demonstrations across the country. According to their website, the theme of the gathering is “Protest and Demand – THE TRUMP/PENCE REGIME MUST GO!” The group’s objective is to force the removal of the Trump administration, and they apparently believe their protests will lead to a coup.
Political violence is increasing all over the world – most of it coming from leftist groups like Refuse Fascism. As with other hard left organizations, they are not interested in arguing ideas; they would rather use force to compel others to accept their ideology.
Conservatives must strive to expose the hypocrisy of hard left organizations. These groups do not wish to promote healthy political discourse; they work to silence those with whom they disagree. While they claim to fight fascism, they employ the same tactics the Nazis used to gain power in Germany during the 1930s. They do their best to stifle the free speech of those with whom they disagree – and they are willing to use physical violence to do it.
Refuse Fascism is one of many groups on the hard left who wish to further their agenda by preventing conservatives and others from expressing their views. If we want to have a free society, we cannot allow groups such as these to gain more influence. We must not let these groups intimidate and deceive us. Make no mistake; organizations like Refuse Fascism want nothing more than to remake American society into their “utopia.”
