The Death of Political Correctness

The recent decision by President Trump to bar transgender individuals from serving in the U.S. Military speaks volumes about his attitude and defiance of all things politically correct. In fact, this latest move should demonstrate once and for all that Trump cares not one whit about anything PC.

Certainly, this comes as no shock to anyone who’s been paying attention to Trump. He began his presidential campaign with a remark about Mexican immigrants that has stuck in the craw of many an immigrant. “They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” Leftists dialed 911 that day to call in the PC police but inexplicably have not been able to put Mr. Trump in the PC Hoosegow. The PC police have been chasing Trump ever since to no avail.

During the presidential campaign, he made many an impolitic statement. It was true cannon fodder for those who take offense to being repeatedly affronted. Here are a few pearls from our non-PC prez:

Regarding Military Sexual Assaults: 26,000 unreported sexual assaults in the military – only 238 convictions. What did these geniuses expect when they put men & women together?

Football has become soft like our country has become soft. I don’t watch it. The referees, they want to all throw flags so their wives can see them at home.

My personal favorite: Our politicians are stupid.

During a presidential debate in Cleveland, Donald Trump summed up his opinion of political correctness with a bold, forthright statement: “I think the big problem this country has is being politically correct. I’ve been challenged by so many people, and I don’t frankly have time for total political correctness. And to be honest with you, this country doesn’t have time either.”

For some odd reason, the elite establishment media thought Trump’s brash intolerance of all things PC would magically disappear on January 20th when he put his hand on Abe Lincoln’s Bible and took the oath of office.

Shows you just how wrong and out-of-touch the so-called mainstream Fourth Estate is in the 21st Century.

While all the scribes and Pharisees have been hacking away with their leftist propaganda instead of “just the facts, ma’am” they missed the essence of the story: Trump doesn’t care what they or anyone else think. He has his own set of values, and a PC agenda is not listed among them.

To those who have been listening, the President’s decision to follow his generals and military experts and stop the complicated and voluminous military requirements that deal with transgender issues does not come as a shock. Liberty Nation’s Military Affairs Correspondent, Nathan Steelwater, astutely covers that here.

Trump isn’t any more anti-transgender than he is anti-Mexican or anti-woman. Unlike former President Obama, Trump is a pragmatist rather than an ideologue.  He is simply not going to be held hostage by a communist philosophy that carries little weight with many Americans. PC and communism, you say? As a matter of fact, yes.

Here’ a brief look into its origins from the Intellectual Takeout:

“The notion of political correctness came into use among Communists in the 1930s as a semi-humorous reminder that the Party’s interest is to be treated as a reality that ranks above reality itself,” writes Codevilla, Professor Emeritus of International Relations at Boston University.

The semi-humorous reminder went something like this:

Comrade, your statement is factually incorrect.”
“Yes, it is. But it is politically correct.”

If you want to dig down into the dubious birth of the PC movement, check out Codevilla’s in-depth article originally published in the Claremont Review of Books here.

Perhaps one reason the American people elected President Trump is that he has absolutely no use for political correctness. Or just maybe it’s because he says what many of us are already thinking. Either way, Trump drives a stake into the heart of the PC movement. Perhaps the left will come behind the funeral cortege dressed in black and mourn its demise.

But many Americans will quietly cheer.
